My Blog

Cocktail bar carts have been all the rage for a while now but have you ever thought about doing a coffee bar instead?

Last Sunday I hosted a small potluck brunch with a few friends and since the food was all covered, I came up with the idea of doing a gourmet coffee bar! Typically at brunch, Mimosas tend to steal the spotlight but this time I wanted it to be all about rich, decadent coffees and sweet treats. That morning I headed to the gourmet food section of Home Goods and picked up the prettiest items for my party.

Here’s my checklist for the ultimate gourmet coffee bar:

1. Coffee – I absolutely love Home Goods and their gourmet selections of coffee… not to mention the most beautiful packaging.

2. Coffee Press – I prefer using coffee presses instead of coffee makers because it’s a bit more classic and they come in all sorts of beautiful designs, colors and sizes.

3. White Porcelain Mugs – When it comes to entertaining, my #1 rule is always using white dishes and serveware. Even though I am often tempted by those perfectly pretty designs, white is always the right way to go!

4. Flavored Syrups – Like any respectable cocktail bar with an array of juices or mixers, every coffee bar needs decadent flavored syrups such as Hazelnut, Amaretto or English Toffee.

5. Sweet Treats – I’ve never met a biscotti dipped delicious coffee that I didn’t like and at Home Goods, I found the most delectable hand crafted Biscottis dipped and drizzled in chocolate….. YUM! I like placing them in a glass jar so that guests can easily serve themselves.
